The Digitech X Series XHR Hot Rod Rock Distortion Pedal is the world’s most advanced distortion pedal. Exclusive DigiTech AudioDNA™ technology is what makes the Hot Rod much more than the standard distortion stompbox. Rather than working from a single distortion circuit, the Hot Rod features a Morph knob which lets you blend three independent distortion types. This gives you a wider variety of different distortion tones that can be dialed in quickly and easily.

Each distortion stompbox features a huge range of different distortion types that can be morphed into different combinations as you rotate our exclusive Distortion Morph knob. This gives you a near unlimited supply of combinations. Now, you are no longer stuck with only one distortion type in a pedal. But that’s not all. There are two outputs, one for normal signal out, and one that features advanced cabinet modeling for live and recording direct-to-board applications. And instead of the standard stompbox tone controls, we’ve even incorporated our innovative spectral-contouring EQ, which delivers a far greater tone range than other distortion stompboxes.

  • Level Knob Controls the effect’s output level. Turn this knob clockwise to increase the output level, and counter-clockwise to decrease output level.
  • Tone Knob Controls the boost or cut of high frequencies. Turn this knob clockwise to increase the high frequency content, and counter-clockwise to decrease the high frequency content.
  • AC Adapter Jack Connect a DigiTech PS200R power supply to this jack. Use the proper supply for your area’s Mains line voltage.
  • Gain Knob Controls the amount of distortion gain. Turn this knob clockwise to increase the amount of distortion, and counter-clockwise to decrease the amount of distortion.
  • Morph Knob Morphs between the three different distortion voicings the Hot Rod has to offer. The knob’s minimum position features a smooth, warm distortion tone. The 12 o’clock position has a classic, edgy distortion sound reminiscent to that of a British Stack. The maximum position gives you a high gain fuzz distortion. Experimenting with different knob positions provides a wide variety of different tones never before available in a single pedal.
  • Input Jack Connect your instrument to this jack. Connecting a guitar cable to this jack engages battery power even though the Indicator LED may not be lit. To prolong battery life, disconnect all cables from the pedal when not in use.
  • Pedal Release Pins These two pins are spring-loaded hinges that hold the pedal in place. Push these pins in to release the pedal from the chassis exposing the battery compartment. (See battery replacement diagram.)
  • Out 1(Amp) Jack Connect this output to your guitar amplifier.
  • Out 2 (Mixer) Jack This output features DigiTech’s CIT™ cabinet modeling technology, that lets you run the pedal directly into a mixer or recorder input without having to use a guitar amplifier.
  • Indicator LED Indicates when the effect is turned on. If the LED becomes dim or does not light when the cables are connected, the battery needs to be replaced.
  • Connections The Hot Rod has a single input (INPUT) and a pair of outputs (AMP and MIXER). The two outputs give you the following options: running into a guitar amplifier, or running directly to a mixing console or recording device, or both. The MIXER output uses DigiTech’s advance CIT™ cabinet modeling technology for an authentic guitar amplifier sound without using an amp.
